I injured my neck in a bad jiu... read more jitsu sweep and was plagued with severely limited mobility and pain for months. I was unable to sleep as even resting my head on a pillow was painful; I couldn't turn my head; and there was a constant nagging pain.

I saw general physicians and spent more than $550 on top-rated physical therapy sessions -- none of these helped and I couldn't articulate it, but I had a feeling this wasn't a muscle or strength issue that PT could address. I was reluctant to see a chiropractor as previous chiropractors I've seen would crack my back for 2 minutes, do 10 minutes of electric stimulation, then send me on my way. However, I was swayed by Dr. Smith's raving reviews.

In one session, Dr. Smith immediately pinpointed my problems and was able to answer all the questions that the PT and MDs could not ("Why does it feel so ropey and hard here in my neck? What's causing the pain? Why hasn't it gotten better?"). In that session, he did adjustments, gua sha, massage therapy, and cupping to help address all the scar issue and inflammation. After that one session, my pain went from a constant 7 down to a 2 and I was FINALLY able to sleep without pain! I could cry from how grateful I am.

Aside from being knowledgeable and effective, Dr. Smith is also extremely friendly, kind, and professional. He is always happy to answer any question I have (as opposed to my prior PTs kind of hoarding information or being reluctant to answer my questions), and he never pushes more sessions on you. He also offers advice on how to treat yourself at home.

My only regret is that I discovered Dr. Smith so late in the game and that he moved to New Mexico. New Mexico, you are super lucky to have him, and I will jump on the chance to see him anytime he is visiting SF.

Dr. Smith took the time to understand my issues, explained the cause and mechanism of the pain & treatment and worked with me to develop a comprehensive plan to get my back, neck/shudders, knee, hip healthy again. The treatments are of the highest caliber and his bedside manner is relaxing.

  Saw Dr.Smith got the first time last week to address ongoing hip tightness that I've dealing with for months. Dr.Smith is approachable and during my first appointment  he asked a series of questions and put me through a few range of motion tests. From there he diagnosed a tight IT Band and got right to work.  Hands on treatment on the first visit was exactly what my condition needed. A combination of targeted intense deep tissue and chiropractic therapies was applied producing a favorable outcome. Fortunate to have found a knowledgeable professional in Dr. Smith who has a varied skillset to employ the correct strategies that provides positive results. This is my spot now and I will return.
